For parents and guardians

Cozy MC is a Minecraft survival community for people 13 and older, run by Cozy MC, LLC. It's free — no payments, no donations — and it has two parts: the Minecraft servers (Java and Bedrock) and a Discord server, which is where players talk, organize, and get help. This page says plainly what Cozy is, what it does to keep people safe, what it can't do, and how to reach us.

Who is here

Cozy is a mixed-age community. We don't collect ages or dates of birth, and we don't verify them. That's deliberate: in a space where adults and teenagers play together, the strongest protection is meant to be that nobody can tell who is who. Nobody may ask anyone's age, nobody may post their own exact age, and the rules tell every member to treat every other member as if they might be a minor. Discord sets its own minimum age by country and enforces it; ours is 13, or Discord's minimum where that's higher.

What the rules do

The full rules are at cozymc.com/rules. These are rules, not guarantees; the parts that matter most to a parent:

  • Personal information is off-limits. Nobody may ask for anyone's age, real name, location, school, social media, or photos, or try to work them out. Members are told not to share their own.
  • No romantic or sexual anything. No sexual content anywhere, no romantic conduct toward another member, and no relationships between people who met here.
  • Inviting members anywhere private is prohibited. Members may not invite other members to private servers, Realms, or Discords, and may not use Cozy to arrange meeting in person.
  • Clean chat. No swearing. A chat filter is being set up on the servers and on Discord; the rule applies with or without it.
  • Blocks, containers, and text chat are logged. Every block and every container is recorded with a name and a time, and server chat is kept for 90 days, so theft and griefing are found, not guessed at. Voice is never recorded.
  • Reporting is easy, and retaliation is a removable offense. Anyone can open a support ticket without being sure of anything, and nobody may pressure or expose a reporter.
  • Staff have attested that they're adults. Everyone with a staff role has attested in writing to being 18 or older — Cozy can't verify that any more than it can verify a member's age — follows a public Staff Code, keeps Cozy business in tickets rather than private messages (the only message a member gets from staff in private is an enforcement notice), and never asks a member their age, or for identification, photos, or proof of age.

What Cozy can't do

We can't verify anyone's age or identity. We don't see private messages or group chats between members on Discord. We don't control other servers or platforms, and our rules stop at our door. And we can't supervise your child — we're a community with volunteer moderators, not a chaperone.

What you can do

Talk with your child about the five things that matter most here — they're at cozymc.com/rules under "The Cozy Five," and the first one is simply if it isn't yours, leave it alone. Discord's Family Center lets you see who your child talks to and which servers they're in; Microsoft's family settings for Minecraft let you limit who can message or play with them. And know how to reach us, below.

If your child is under 13

Email [email protected] with the account's username. We'll remove the account and delete the personal information we hold about it, keeping only what's needed to keep the removal in place. This isn't a punishment; it's a platform requirement, and we'd rather hear from you than find out another way.

If something has happened

If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Then email [email protected] or have your child open a support ticket in the Discord. Every safety report is read and screened by a person, we report to the platforms and to the authorities where that's required, and we keep a record of what we did. We may not be able to tell you the outcome for another member, but we will tell you it was handled.

Your child's data

What we keep, for how long, and why is in our privacy notice at cozymc.com/privacy. The short version: usernames, game logs for 90 days, moderation records for the periods listed there, and no record of anyone's age — an age someone states in a report stays in that report and nowhere else.
