A sanctuary server

Anarchy servers have no rules at all. Cozy MC is the opposite: a sanctuary server. It's a chill, longterm survival world for Java and Bedrock where nobody needs land claims, because the community's code protects every build — and when something does get taken or broken, it gets put back.

No land claims — the code protects every build

On a lot of servers, you "claim" your land with a plugin so other players can't wreck your builds or take your things. On Cozy there's nothing to claim, because everyone plays by the same code, the Cozy Code:

  • If it isn't yours, leave it alone. Taking from a chest, shop, or container that isn't yours is stealing, and it isn't allowed.
  • Don't break or change anyone else's build without their OK. Minecraft players call that "griefing," and it isn't allowed anywhere in the world.
  • No fighting unless both players agree. No traps, ambushes, or baiting. If someone attacks you, you can defend yourself, but a support ticket is what settles it, not a rematch.

So the world stays open, the way Minecraft is meant to be: walk through a town, admire a build, or shop at a stall, with no plugin walls in the way.

When something goes wrong, it gets put back

Stealing and griefing are handled the same way: they're undone.

  • Stolen items come back. Report it, and staff look up the log, see exactly who took what, and return the items to their owner, wherever they ended up.
  • Griefed builds are rolled back. Staff restore the build block by block, the way it was before.
  • There are real consequences. A first theft means a ban; it usually ends in a return on a final warning, with everything the player had stored cleared. A second theft means removal for good. Damaging a build on purpose gets a warning first and firmer steps after, and wrecking one for its own sake — with TNT, lava, fire, or anything else — means removal straight away.
  • Honest mistakes are treated as mistakes. Paid a shop with the wrong item, took one too many, or misclicked? Make it right — pay the difference or put it back — and when the log shows it was a mistake, it's recorded as a correction, not a theft. A crop stepped on or a block broken while passing through just gets fixed. Not sure whether something is free to take? Leave it and ask.

How it holds

Every block placed or broken and every chest or other container opened is logged with the player's name and the time. The records are kept for 90 to 120 days (old ones are cleared about once a month), so if something goes missing, report it soon. That log is how staff trace anything, and anyone can look too: stand next to any chest, type /co inspect, and click the chest to see who opened it and what they took or put in.

That's why nobody here needs to lock their chests.

What "sanctuary" means

Minecraft has been a sanctuary for a lot of people: a break from work and the stresses of everyday life. Cozy is that, shared — a chill place to connect with a community, cooperate on big things, or just unwind.

It's a sanctuary from griefers and thieves, not from creepers. The world is on Hard difficulty with no keepInventory (when you die, your items drop where you fell), so survival means something. But you're not on your own: a private message tells you where you died, and other CozyKin (that's what we call Cozy's members) may come along to help with the recovery trip.

And it isn't a promise that nothing will ever go wrong. Cozy is a real community of real people and new friends, and sometimes things go sideways, the way they do anywhere people are. What Cozy has is a way to sort things out together: clear rules, staff who act on reports, support tickets for anything that needs staff, petitions and votes for changes to the shared world, and channels like #policy-discussion for talking through how things should work. If something goes wrong, open a support ticket in our Discord, and don't take matters into your own hands.

A longterm world, built together

The survival world has been running since December 14, 2024, and it never resets: anything you build, or spend real time in, stays. Kingdoms with their own leaders and lore, megabuilds, roads, shops, and player-run events all grow from the same thing: people who can trust that their work will still be there tomorrow.

A build that shows real effort is protected from anyone acting alone; low-effort clutter, like a leftover dirt pillar, can be cleared by anyone. The only way a real build can change without its builder's OK is a public community vote: a petition that passes with at least 60% of the vote over three days can take a build over, give it to someone else, open it to everyone, repurpose it, or remove it. The community decides, never one player.

One place to leave alone when you're new: spawn (the 500 blocks around it in the Overworld) is shared community space, where anything permanent needs a passed petition first. Build your base outside it.

Who'll love it here, and who won't

You'll love it here if you want a chill, longterm survival world where your builds are protected; you like open towns, unlocked chests, and neighbors who help; or you're new to servers, or to Minecraft, and want a friendly place to learn. Ask in #general on our Discord, and someone will help.

It's not the place for you if you're looking for anarchy, raiding, or fighting players who didn't agree to it. There are servers built for that, and that's fine; Cozy just isn't one of them.

Join in three steps

Cozy MC is free — no payments, no donations, no pay-to-win — and it's for players 13 and up, on Java and Bedrock together.

  1. Join the server with your own copy of Minecraft. Java (computer): CozyMC.com. Bedrock (console, phone, or Windows): mc.cozymc.com, port 19132 — on a console, add the friend PlayCozyMC. You can explore and chat right away.
  2. Join our Discord at cozymc.com/discord. It's where the community talks, organizes, and gets help.
  3. Verify, so you can build: read the rules and find the verification word. Then, in #general (a channel in our Discord), send one message with the word, a space, and the exact Minecraft username you joined the server with — that account has to have joined first. Steps: cozymc.com/verify. A staff member grants access, usually quickly and within 24 hours at most.
