The rule. You must be at least 13. Nobody may ask anyone's age.

In practice

  • Anyone under 13 cannot be on Cozy — the Minecraft servers, the Discord, or any Cozy service. This is not a punishment; it is a platform requirement.
  • Discord sets a higher minimum in some countries and enforces it itself. We don't check where anyone lives.
  • If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13 — or under Discord's minimum for their country — we remove it, report it to Discord where required, and delete the personal information we hold about it except what's needed to keep the removal in place.
  • Nobody may ask anyone's age or try to determine it. That includes "how old are you," asking whether someone is a minor or an adult, asking when they'll turn a particular age, and piecing it together from clues.
  • Don't post your own exact age or birthdate — anywhere, including Discord bios and statuses.
  • Vague life-stage references — work, school, "I'm older than most people here" — are discouraged, and staff may remove or redirect them. An isolated one is not an offense. Repeatedly announcing your exact age, or that you're a minor, after staff have asked you to stop is handled like any other repeated privacy issue — a correction, then a warning — because announcing it makes you easier to target, which is exactly what this rule protects against. Staff never write the age down.
  • Staff never ask for identification, a date of birth, a photograph, a school record, or any other proof of age — and never ask anyone's age, not even in a safety review. Staff act on conduct. If an age matters to a platform or to the authorities, they establish it; Cozy reports what it saw.

Why this exists

Cozy is a mixed-age community where ages are deliberately not collected. The protection that makes that work is meant to be that nobody can tell who is who. Once ages circulate, that protection is gone for everyone.
