The rule. Cozy is 13+ and follows Minecraft, Microsoft, and Xbox safety standards. All content must be suitable for all audiences, public spaces are swear-free, and there is no romantic or sexual conduct between members.

Not allowed anywhere

  • Sexual content, sexual jokes or innuendo, "edgy" sexual humor
  • Sexual or explicit roleplay, fetish content
  • Gore or disturbing content
  • Sexualized or sexually suggestive skins, avatars, builds, artwork, maps, books, signs, item names, or other creations. "It's just a statue" is not an exception.

This applies in Discord text and voice, screen shares, in-game chat and proximity chat, Minecraft private messages (/msg, /tell, whispers), Cozy-related DMs, bios and statuses, skins, capes, usernames, builds, and images, stickers, emojis, and reactions.

Language

  • No swearing in Cozy's spaces — server chat, in-game private messages (/msg, /tell, /w), Discord channels and voice, signs, books, item names, and builds. Discord DMs between friends aren't covered by the swearing rule. Slurs, and sexual language toward another member, are violations wherever they happen.
  • A chat filter is being set up on the Minecraft servers, private messages included, and on the Discord; the changelog will record the date it's running. The filter is a tool, not the rule: the rule applies before the filter exists and after it, getting around it with spacing, symbols, or creative spelling counts as swearing, and a word it misses is still covered.
  • Nobody reads your private messages routinely. They're logged like all server chat, and a filter is software, not a person; staff see them only while handling a report or a specific concern, never as a browse, and anything unrelated to that concern isn't copied, shared, or used. Every rule applies in /msg — using it to recruit, ask for personal information, or harass is a violation like anywhere else.
  • A slip gets a correction. Persistent swearing, or swearing at someone, is handled like any other conduct issue.

Romantic and sexual conduct

  • Directed romantic, dating, flirtatious, or marriage-related messages, nicknames, or roleplay toward another member are not permitted, regardless of intent or consent. Stop immediately if someone indicates discomfort.
  • Dating or romantic solicitation in a bio, status, or post — "single, DM me" — counts as directed at everyone here.
  • No romantic or sexual relationship between people who met through Cozy, while either is a member — in Cozy spaces or in private. There is no adult-consent exception, because we can't verify that anyone is an adult.
  • Couples and partners whose relationship predates their connection through Cozy may continue it. Don't bring it into Cozy spaces, and don't expose identifying information to other members. Simply being known as a couple is not a violation.

Enforcement

Sexual or NSFW content is a serious safety violation, not a minor conduct issue. Staff do not wait for repetition, do not require proof of harm, and do not issue warnings for high-risk sexual content. Sexual content may result in immediate permanent removal, or a temporary review hold while the case is reviewed. Directed romantic conduct with nothing indicating a minor is involved is handled on the ladder — a warning at minimum — and reviewed if any age concern appears.

Why this exists

In a space where ages are unverified, moderators must assume the highest-risk scenario: that a minor may be present, exposed, or affected. Intent, humor, privacy, and claims of consent do not reduce that risk, so they don't change enforcement. Anyone who wants sexual or romantic conversation must have it entirely outside Cozy, with people whose age they can independently verify. Clean public chat is also the first thing a new player — or a parent looking over a shoulder — sees.
