The rule. Report through a ticket. Never retaliate against or interfere with anyone involved in a report.
How to report
- If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Cozy staff are volunteers on a game server, not an emergency service.
- Open a support ticket. You don't need to be certain — describe what happened in your own words, with usernames and approximate coordinates or channels. You never have a duty to investigate; report what you saw.
- No Discord access, or something you'd rather not put in a ticket? Email [email protected]. A person banned from Discord may still make a good-faith safety report about a current member or a current threat; doing so doesn't reopen or affect their own ban.
- Send screenshots of what happened, cropped to what's relevant — including a DM, if that's where it happened. Cozy doesn't read DMs; when you show us one in a report, we look at what you sent, for that report, and nothing more. Don't send real names, real-world profiles, addresses, voice recordings, intimate media, credentials, whole conversations, or compiled dossiers about anyone.
- A screenshot is evidence, not a verdict. Staff weigh it with everything else, and the person it's about ordinarily gets to respond before any finding.
- Don't call people out or accuse them in public chat. Reports go to tickets.
- Serious in-game conduct can also be reported to Mojang or Xbox through the game's own reporting tools, and underage or unsafe Discord accounts can be reported to Discord directly. Cozy's rules and the platforms' standards point the same way; reporting to both is fine.
Voice-chat reports
A report about something said in voice will not be rejected for lack of a recording or a second witness. Staff weigh the totality: whether the account is firsthand, its specificity and consistency, voice-channel join and leave logs, independent witnesses, contemporaneous reactions, admissions, and prior substantiated incidents. More severe consequences require correspondingly stronger support. Several people repeating the same secondhand story are not several witnesses.
No retaliation, no interference
No one may contact, threaten, pressure, expose, intimidate, monitor, or retaliate against a reporter, witness, or anyone involved in a moderation review — directly, through an alternate account, or by asking someone else to. Retaliation or interference may result in immediate permanent removal.
Conduct outside Cozy
Cozy does not monitor members' private lives, search their personal accounts, or routinely enter outside communities. Cozy reviews reported conduct that happened elsewhere only when it has a real Cozy connection: it used Cozy-derived access, targeted someone because of Cozy, exposed a member's information, recruited or redirected members, harassed or retaliated against a member, interfered with moderation, evaded a ban, or materially affected member safety or Cozy operations. Cozy does not adjudicate historical conflicts in private outside communities merely because someone once played here.
Where an outside community has to be looked at, one assigned moderator does so through ordinary, identifiable, authorized access and only for the documented concern. The limits are in the Staff Code.
Why this exists
Most of what keeps Cozy safe is people speaking up. That only happens if reporting is easy, and retaliation is treated seriously. Retaliation is treated as seriously as it is because a single instance teaches everyone else to stay quiet.
